Building Code Requirements in Tasmania
Which edition of the National Construction Code applies in Tasmania, its adoption timeline, and the state-specific variations that affect what you build.
Tasmania is back on NCC 2022 for houses, sheds and decks (Class 1 and Class 10). The state started on NCC 2025 for a short time, then went back to NCC 2022 on 5 June 2026. So the edition you follow today is 2022. NCC 2025 is set for 1 May 2027, but after all the recent back-and-forth that date may still change. Worth a quick check with your certifier before you count on it.
While things settle, build to the basics that don’t move. Our NCC-for-chippies stairs pillar covers the riser, going and rail numbers that decide a pass or fail, and the concrete calculations guide helps you order the right amount for slabs and footings.
