Which edition of the National Construction Code applies in Victoria, its adoption timeline, and the state-specific variations that affect what you build.
Victoria is out in front: NCC 2025 has been in force here since 1 May 2026. If you’re building a house, shed, deck or carport (Class 1 and Class 10) in Victoria today, you work to the 2025 edition, not 2022. Good news for chippies — the home energy and livable-housing rules came across from NCC 2022 with barely any change. So the day-to-day work on stairs, footings and framing hasn’t shifted much with the new edition.
