Building Code Requirements in Hamburg

Hamburg's HBauO sets a 2.40 m general minimum room height, reduced to 2.30 m for an ordinary 1–2 unit house — confirmed in §44(1).

Hamburg’s building law is the Hamburgische Bauordnung (HBauO), currently in force.

Minimum room height (lichte Raumhöhe): 2.40 m generally, reduced to 2.30 m for an ordinary one- or two-family house (Wohngebäude Gebäudeklasse 1 & 2) — both figures set in §44(1) HBauO. In a roof space (Dachgeschoss), the figure reduces further to 2.30 m over at least half the room’s floor area.

Your LBO also sets boundary setbacks (Abstandsflächen), guard/parapet (Umwehrung) heights, and permit-free (verfahrensfrei) thresholds for garages and carports — none of these were independently confirmed for Hamburg, so confirm them directly in the HBauO text on landesrecht.hamburg.de before you build to a number.
