Oregon Residential Specialty Code: Stairs & Guards

Oregon runs its own Residential Specialty Code statewide, and — unusually — allows no local amendments at all. Stair and guard figures follow the IRC baseline.

Oregon builds to its own-named Oregon Residential Specialty Code (ORSC) — the 2023 ORSC, based on the 2021 IRC, effective 1 October 2023 and mandatory statewide from 1 April 2024. Unusually among US states, Oregon permits no local amendments — the ORSC applies uniformly everywhere in the state, so there’s no county- or city-level variation to check.

No confirmed Oregon-specific stair or guard amendment surfaced — figures follow the IRC baseline. See the US stair & guard rules for the shared figures.
