There's a small heap of formulas used to estimate & calculate materials. It is invaluable to have all of them in one offline database. From square feet or cubic yard, the DIYr will self-combust crunching the numbers (one conversion wrong and the project comes to a halt). Chippy makes some of those calculations easy and that's worth the price of admission.
